New Member in the Parking Garage Industry:

Welcome to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union, Local 272. We represent Parking Garage and Car Rental Employees in NY and NJ. Here are some important points to keep in mind:

1.Support at Work: If you have any questions or issues, please reach out to the union office at 212-726-9726 to get your Union Representative’s cell number.

The Union office is located at 220 East 23^rd Street, NY, NY 10010 (between 2^nd & 3rd avenues).

Open Monday-Friday / 8am–4pm (closed Holidays) … please call-in advance.

2.Probationary Period: You will be on a 60-day probationary period starting from your date of hire.

3.Weingarten Rights: After your probation, you are entitled to exercise your Weingarten rights. This means you can request your Union Representative’s presence in any meeting with the company that may lead to discipline.

4.Vacation and Benefit Hours: As per our contract, you will earn vacation and benefit hours while you work. All earned / unused vacation and benefit hours will be paid out on your anniversary date each year.

5.Medical Coverage: Your medical coverage depends on work hours and company contributions. You need 360 hours in a quarter to activate coverage, and at least 120 hours per month to keep your medical coverage active which covers you, your spouse and your kids up to age 26. Contact the Union office or your Union Representative for a medical enrollment form.

6.Life Insurance: The Union provides a life insurance policy. If the unexpected happens, your beneficiary will receive the benefit. Make sure to designate a beneficiary when you complete your medical enrollment form.

7.Monthly Meetings: Attend our monthly meetings to stay updated on industry events and to raise any questions, concerns, or issues affecting you or your coworkers.
